What is a Colorist ?
Well, a colorist is also called a color timer or telecine op or a telecine artist....
I basically color correct the footage to create a mood and enrich the pictures.
I would set the look at the beginning of the session and then match grade all the shots to this reference, so the film would look even from one shot to another. The footage can be shot on film negatif stock (35mm or 16mm), or video (HD, digibeta, dv), or even from a file sequence.
I mostly work on commercials and music videos.

Un coloriste est aussi appelé étalonneur télécinéma.
Il s'agit de corriger et enrichir les couleurs pour créer ou accentuer l'ambiance d'un film.
Je travaille d'abord sur une image de référence, puis selon celle-ci, ajuste les tons, plan par plan, de facon à ce que tout raccorde.
Je peux étalonner des images d'après une source film (16mm ou 35mm) ou bien vidéo (HD, DV, digi Beta) ou bien même une séquence informatique d'images (sur disque externe)
Je travaille essentiellement en publicité et vidéos clip.
